Orphans First Prayer Update April 5th, 2003

Dear Praying Friends,

     Recently, a six-month old baby was left agonizing from severe burns for 
two days while the mother desperately sought a doctor.  This type of incident 
is typical in certain parts of the world, whether war-related or provoked by 
sheer poverty.  The baby finally received help from British medical workers, 
but the effects of the previous suffering cannot be effaced.  Such situations 
leave you feeling so helpless, even angry because we cannot understand.  But 
with all our lack of understand, this one thing we must understand:  We are 
God's co-laborers and OUR PRAYERS CHANGE LIVES.  We must pray, pray and pray 
like never before for the needy children.  

     There is much to pray about so I'll list those needs, thanking you for 
your faithfulness to pray and change the destiny of the beloved children.  

INDIA
     From P. Samuel, the founder and overseer of our orphanage in Guntur:
".... At present I am not doing well physically. Thankyou for your love and 
care for the children."  Please pray for his health, and for all our precious 
children under his care.  Pray for God's healing.

RUSSIA
     We sent money for young Sergey, an orphan boy in St.Pete, to have 
surgery on his lip.  Sergey is a sweet boy in one of the orphanages where our 
team works regularly.  We also sent money for a VCR-TV for the orphanage.  
Continue praying for the awesome work among orphans in different parts of 
Russia, and specifically for us to have our own orphanage in St.Pete.

ALBANIA
     Pray for continuation of the street children's work there, and for our 
upcoming visit to Albania.

ROMANIA
     Pray as we seek to partner with a new work, "Heart to Heart Mission" in 
Petrosani helping poor and suffering children.

ADOPTIONS
     Pray for a couple in Tacoma who are pursuing adopting two children.  
Pray for the success of the administration and other details so that the 
adoption would happen real fast.  Continue praying for more Christians to 
adopt.

WWDPCR
     Pray for the World-Wide Day of Prayer for Children at Risk, the first 
weekend in June.  May it be mega-effective.

PERSONAL
     Today is our daughter Rachèle's 20th birthday, and she has always been 
an integral part of Orphans First.  It is hard to be so far away from her on 
this special day.  Pray for God to meet all her needs (car, good job to help 
her through college etc.).  Pray also for our 15-year-old son and his future 
(schooling stateside).  Pray for God to open doorswe have no means to open of 
ourselves.  We know He will be faithful to meet our children's needs, and 
especially the needs of the many desperately needy children in the world.
