Urgent Prayer Aug. 25th, 2002
Dear Praying Friends,
Tomorrow (Monday) our 19 year old daughter leaves to begin her
life in America (Bible School, working for a godly congressman in
Washington etc.). My husband is "trying" to accompany Rachèle and her
many suitcases on a standby as her trip is very COMPLICATED. It involves
getting the following planes, Lyon to Rome (staying overnight in Rome
"somewhere"), then Rome - Cincinatti, Cincinatti - Baltimore. Please
pray for the following!
* That my husband could somehow be on the exact same planes as
Rachèle, especially the Lyon - Rome as we're so scared of her trying to
find somewhere to spend the night all alone in Rome with many suitcases
(I'm a worried mother);
* That they could find a super cheap hotel at Rome so as to get the
next connecting flights.
Why take that route? Well, that was all that was affordable and
open at this time of year.
Please also pray for all Rachèle's needs to be met in the next few
months as she goes into a new life with a challenging schedule ahead of her
as she'll be doing full-time Bible School, then interning three days a week
in Washington (a great privilege and education but unpaid), and then
working "somewhere" part-time to ear some money. Any of you who've had
children leave home, you will understand my concerns.
UPCOMING TRIP with SPECIAL CONTACTS
Part of my husband's trip involves a special meeting with some key
men of God which I was also invited to attend. It does not look as if I'll
be going to that meeting so please pray that Orphans First could also be
represented, and that Francesco and I will do fine here alone.
YOUTH
The Surf Camp was awesome with many souls saved, and youths ignited
with God's love. However, there is still a tremendous wave of strong
rebellion on several of our youths. Please pray for God to break down the
strongholds of rebellion, and break the wills of those wooing sin and
iniquity. Pray specifically for a divine intervention on the teens.
STREET CHILDREN and MONSOONS
It rained at Surf Camp (interesting for those in tents). It's
raining hard here. And news showed the very serious Monsoons in India and
also floods in China. My mind wanders to our "babies" in India, those
who've often cried during the Monsoons as they've sought refuge under
tables and the rain still mercilessly grabbed them. Those who get beaten by
police or other adults when they try to sleep. And those whose hunger
pangs are increased when they are cold and forced to stay awake because of
the endless pounding of the rain. Rain and tears mingle as I consider
those who used to live in our home in Mumbai and who are now again on the
streets for whatever reason. Boys such as Ashok, Mukesh, Vijay, Arun,
Pankaj, Chetan, Setchan, Deepak, Rahoul and others who love Jesus, but who
do not feel His love for them on a daily basis. I think again of Nanibabu,
Gorawaia, Bramhon (the slave), the beaten boy at Hyderabad Airport and
others whose names I don't remember, in Guntur. I think of the many
desperately poor children, abandonned and alone in China. I think of those
starving in Zimbabwe, and the many street children in S. Africa such as
Shadrack, Jane, Visu, Jeff, Small and others. I ask you to join me in
praying for them.
I don't think there has ever been a time when children have been
more abused, even tortured. Just as today's youths face so many
temptations, so much bombardment from Satan's kingdom, so the evil one
delights in hurting children everywhere. Our only weapon at times is
prayer. May our King teach us to pray. May we avail ourselves to pray,
sacrificing time and anything else to do so.
