URGENT PRAYER for Oct.26th, 2001
Please pray for our court case tomorrow 9 am French time when my
husband, founder of Nīmes Theological Institute (ITN), will be taking the
French newspaper to court for defaming our name. This is an unprecedented
case in France. We need special prayer because of the issues at stake.
For example, since these slanderous articles came out in France, the town
hall took away our privilege to rent a hall for Sunday school for
underprivileged children. We have also had varying repercussions ranging
from people losing jobs and children receiving threats by neighbors.
Please remember we're talking about a country where those preaching
and believing the Bible are suspected of being cults but where Islam is
embraced and endorsed.
Pray for God's victory, especially because there have been several
mess-ups disallowing us the use of evidence to defend ourselves and prove
we are not a cult. We are kind of left defenseless in this case, but we
trust God will prove Himself to be His own defense. (WEBSITE: itnimes.org)

Dear Friends in Christ,
I am writing to you from my office (it is 11pm we just had our mid-week service) as we are being "briefed" by our lawyer. We go to court for our defamation case with the French Media tomorrow (Friday, October 26,2001).
Here are some important facts to have in mind :
1. This will be the last day for the court case. We should know the decision eiher in the afternoon or within the next 2 weeks.
2. If we lose, we can appeal the decision. If we win, the newspaper can appeal the decision also.
3. Our case is about defamation and incitation to religious hatred. So far, according to our lawyer, no case in France has been judged on that matter. It is a precedent !
Prayer requests :
1. Guidance for our lawyer by the Holy Spirit. He is a Christian
2. Victory for this case
3. That I will be able to understand all that is going on, (the French used in courts is not a common language)
4. That I will have the calm and peace of the Lord in such a ridiculous situation. Imagine Evangelicals being taken to court to be viewed as a "dangerous cult". One could get upset at such absurdity.
5. Pray that this will all go by quickly, and we will not have to be asked many questions, even though we are innocent, we are in an athiestic society which is VERY hostile to Christians, Americans, and Evangelicals.
6. We do not have our witnesses with us...they are in Washington, DC (head of the World Evangelical Fellowship)
7. Having come this far in all this, may God choose if we should take this further and higher so that other French Christians would not have to be "penalized" for believing the Bible and go through this someday.
