He writes, “ We have a lady who is taking care of more than 150 orphans and 50 plus widows from the war. She was won to the Lord by one of our pastors and is now a member of one of our churches. Formerly, she was a Muslim. We will be trying to assist her in every way possible in the coming days.” My husband, Louis, is presently on the East Coast where he’s meeting with some of our African friends—including the pastor requiring extra help for the orphans in Ghana. Pray for the children represented by these pastors, and for our continued involvement. INDIA Pray for continued growth, health and spiritual prosperity of P. Below are some awesome answers to our prayers resulting from the World Weekend of Prayer for Children at Risk (sent out by Viva). May these inspire us to continue praying. World Weekend of Prayer for Children at Risk All over the world, people came together to pray on 3rd and 4th June. We are beginning to hear about some of the prayer events that took place - here are a few of the stories: * At a children's home and outreach centre in Nyanza, Kenya, prayers were immediately answered when the group prayed for blankets for local children whose homes had been damaged by flooding. Someone came through the door moments later with 40 blankets! * A youth group in South Asia went out onto the city streets and produced a short film about the street children they met there… They asked each of those children to make a hand print and these were prayed over during the prayer time, helping everyone to engage personally as they prayed * A church in Malta was encouraged as people from 14 different nations got up to pray during their service. Their renewed commitment to mission and reaching out to vulnerable children has made an impact on the whole congregation World Cup trafficking It is estimated that 40,000 women and girls have been brought into Germany over the World Cup to work in the sex trade. Many of them have been trafficked - deceived and forced into prostitution by groups who make money from their exploitation. * Thank God for 'Stop The Traffic', a major global coalition focused on stopping human trafficking. * Pray for the release of thousands of young women who are being trafficked into Germany. Pray that the work of churches, NGOs, police and the media will bring criminal gangs involved in human trafficking to justice. Chab Dai network, Cambodia The network has achieved a lot in the last year, working together to advocate for trafficking victims, producing resources to help workers meet the needs of vulnerable children, and much more. * Praise God that a missing three-year old girl was found as Chab Dai ministries worked together * 5000 children at risk were given "help cards" in the last year, showing them how they can get in touch with people who can help them. Pray that these children would be protected and that they would make use of the cards India network for children at risk There has been a real breakthrough in getting more of Kolkata's pastors actively involved in working with children at risk. A series of workshops has been planned to mobilise the churches, and lots of people have already signed up * Praise God for progress made in networking in India. Pray that the workshops will equip church members and leaders to reach out to children at risk * Please pray for the two new members of staff who will take the network forward and enable ministries to touch children's lives even more effectively by working together Casa Viva fostering project, Costa Rica Casa Viva is working with churches to place orphaned and abandoned children in Christian homes. It trains Christian families in the skills they need to foster a child, and then places each child in its programme with a family. Casa Viva began last year, and already 10 children are being cared for in 7 homes * Praise God for all the families who are opening up their homes to vulnerable children * Pray for healing and security for each child in the project, as they get used to living with a family that loves them, and begin to hear about God and his power to change lives * Thank God for the professional support being provided to the project by the Focus on the Family organisation Connect network, South Africa * Praise God for the Child Protection training put on by Connect as part of Viva Network's Quality Improvement Scheme (QIS) recently. There has been a lot of positive feedback from participants who work with children at risk in a variety of ministries. Working through the QIS materials has helped many begin to put together child protection policies for their ministries, and equipped them to begin to put these into practice * Please pray for children to be protected even more effectively in South Africa as a result of these training days Project "Star", Mojtin, Slovakia The project is part of the Slovakia network of children's ministries. It helps victims of domestic violence, particularly mothers and children in crisis situations. Accommodation, food, clothes and counselling are provided, to support the vulnerable as they reintegrate into society * Please pray for God to heal 8 year old Miko, who has leukaemia * Pray for health and peace for mothers and children in the "Star" shelter -------- Forever in gratitude to you, Janey L.
