Janey: Here is the Latest=looks good-keep praying-you can post this online
too! Joyce

Dear Adopting Family:

At Last! I received some REAL official news about the re-accreditation
that has been holding up all of the adoptions of children from the 2005
Family Hope Program and I wanted very much to share it with you.

International Family Services and their sister agency Hand In Hand has
been informed by the Ministry of Education and Science in Moscow that they
will be signing the re-accreditation certificates next week. After that, it
will take approximately one week to process the formal certificate that is
needed to allow the submission of family dossiers to begin the adoptions. As
soon as it is officially signed and processed you will be notified.

So, be ready to have some of your documents re-notarized and apostilled
as some may have expired. This is not unusual and other than the tediousness
of having to have the documents re-signed this does not generally create a
big problem for adopting families.

Also, don't forget that I have quite a collection of practical gifts
for all the children of orphanage 46 and I am counting on you to transport
these to St. Petersburg when you go. You may know that we intend to take our
son, Artur, and his friend, Nikita with us on our first visit, and they are
very excited, as they will be the first children adopted from 46 to return
for a visit. These boys are spending a part of their weekend calling
orphanage 46 so we can let ALL the children know how much you miss them and
cannot wait to see them again. Russia is celebrating the Orthodox New Year
so they are on holiday today and tomorrow.

Please keep in your heart Alexander Ghurkin whose family had a change
of heart about adopting him shortly after the children returned. I have been
fiercely advocating on his behalf, but as of yet, I have not found a
committed family willing to consider adopting a 12 year old boy sight
unseen. In spite of the fact, that we made a leap of faith doing just that
when we adopted Artur.

I am so very sorry that this process has not gone as smoothly as it
should. Believe me when I tell you that IFS and HIH have been doing
absolutely everything possible to accelerate this process. None of us has
enjoyed the wait time, or the silence with regards to genuine news. I shared
this information with you because it came directly from the Ministry of
Education, which is the Russian Governmental Agency that is in charge of all
adoptions of Russian children, so it is real and genuine. All of you have
been a constant in my heart and mind, as well as ALL of the children in
orphanage 46 who really cannot comprehend the complexity of this process. I
know this has not been easy for any of us. Thank you for not giving up on
your children.

Again, if you know anyone who might consider Alexander, the 6300 that
was paid by his original family is in an account towards his adoption, so
any family found would only be responsible for the foreign fee portion of
the total adoption fee. He is a really great kid, and Monica Cox knows much
of him, since their adoptive son, Pasha is his very best friend. I
especially am hopeful that Pasha and Sasha will be able to grow up together
like Nikita and Artur. It is such a gift to see these boys together daily.

With the Most Sincerest of Wishes for You and Your Children,

Joyce Schaller
