Prayer for Katrina victims, Haiti & adoptions - 2nd Sept.05 May God help all of US to give time praying for the beloved, precious victims of Katrina in New Orleans. It seems it's always the poor and needy who are hit the hardest. May we do what God has called us to do--pray, and offer whatever help we can whether material or in giving our time and lives to help them. God grant us faithfulness... News from our orphanage in Haiti is still worrying. Thank God some folks have responded and begun sending in some funds for this orphanage. Continue praying for more funds so we can pay debts that have accumulated in the orphanage (including rent) and provide nutritious food daily. We also need school supplies. Thank God for two faithful missionary friends who are helping and assessing the situation but it is certainly very complex. There are no fast nor simple answers. Please pray God would SHOW US what to do next--for divine wisdom--for a real solution. For the safety of these people, I am withholding details, but we do need permanent solutions to ensure that these children are taken care of fully and loved with God's love. Please don't stop praying for this. Prayer needed for some troubled youths we are ministering to. Plz pray for five young people in particular -- all from different backgrounds and in extremely precarious situations, trapped by satan's lures. *Good news - The World Wide Day of Prayer for Children at Risk (first week of June) was a great success. The children were fantastic. The families by and large for very patient and excited as they got to know and love the children who they hosted. One of my friends, Shirley Heim, was able to get the Stafford Rotary to donate all new backpacks for each child that was stuffed with age/gender appropriate items. The backpacks also had each child’s name embroidered on them! You can only image the delight the children had in discovering all the fun things that were in these backpacks. One little boy, Tolig, 10, was discovered in the early morning of his first full day surrounded by empty candy wrappers! The twinkling sparkling playfulness on his face when he was discovered by his soon to be adoptive father, just generated a laughing nyet (Russian for NO!). We also hosted a 9 year old boy, Roman. Of all the children he had the most physical concerns. He was born with segments of his iris missing in his left eye, so he has no vision in that eye, and there is no corrective lenses that will solve the problem...Yes, we are even now working on the paperwork to bring him home! All of the children had families when they got on the plane! Even Nikita Y. Remember him? He is the good son!---who by the way is so incredibly handsome that when he was traveling with his family on the metro another tourist stopped him and asked if she could take his photo! After he smiled and the picture was snapped his host father exclaimed, “Hey! Who wants to take my photo?!” ;) . Sadly, however, one really special young man has had his family change their mind about adopting him. They have decided to adopt a child younger (he is 12). His name is Alexander and he has white blond hair, blue eyes, with 2” long eyelashes, a quick wit, and an easy smile. He is independent and fun loving. His good friend, Pasha, loves him very much and of course, expects to see him after he comes home. I just hope he finds a family. You know how hard it is for the older kids. It is not his fault that he is not a baby, and I was just heartbroken for him. All I could think about was when we brought Artur home when he was 12 and what a cherished member of our family he is. There is a family in North Carolina that has expressed an interest in Alexander, but until they confirm their plans, I have to keep trying. Also, one more thing, the adoption fee for Alexander has been reduced. Have anyone who might be interested contact me and I will pass along more specific information. Continue praying for adoptions, Haiti, New Orleans, as well as for our orphanages in India, Africa, Poland and street children in Moscow, Kazakhstan... May we be found faithful -- for their sake, Janey L.
