From Joyce Schaller: “Right now a family right St. Petersburg Russia is attempting to complete the adoption of 2 children a brother and sister, and have run into a SERIOUS PROBLEM: 1. The sister, Natalia has been at orphanage 46 and they have children adopted on a regular basis so everyone supports her adoption by this family. Her brother Igor, has been residing in orphanage 19 in a different region of St Petersburg, and he is the first child from this orphanage EVER to be adopted and a local lawyer plainly opposes adoption!!!!!!! 2. They had their first court hearing last week and the judge granted them custody of both children. Unfortunately the judge did not waive their ten days. 3. Well, the lawyer for Igor's region has decided to take them back to court and protest their adoption!!!! Please pray that these 2 children 11 and 9 years old will be allowed to come home with this family. Part of the reason for this incredible battle is because 3/4 years ago a woman in Illinois adopted a child from Russia that she murdered. She is being prosecuted now and the Russian newspapers have seized on this story as "evidence" that children adopted internationally are abused/victimized/and even murdered!!!!!! It makes no difference that this is the first case EVER of this kind where a child adopted from Russia has been murdered.” Please continue praying for the ADOPTIONS of Mihail & Gheorge from Moldova, 14-yr-old Nikita, sisters Irina & Tatyana from Russia, baby Beatrice from Haiti, for the Snajders in Poland adopting the 3 Ukrainian children. *** If you’re in S. ALERT: Pray for the orphans leaving state orphanages in Kazakhstan, & Russia this Spring—some as young as 15-yrs-old, many with no place to go but the street. Pray for our friends in Almaty to whom we sent money to help provide some basics for the children from several orphanages. Pray they can impact those children’s lives & help them find housing as well as to invest in them spiritually. Thank you for praying for last week’s WRITER’S CONFERENCE.
