Orphans First Prayer Requests – Oct.1st 2004 Dear Praying Friends, These are hard times to live in and my heart is pinched with awareness that the Lord is calling us to pray as never before. This update contains both good and bad news, praise reports and urgent prayer needs, so without further talk, let’s get to the issues at hand. IRAQ With presidential elections close, spiritual warfare is at its peak. In a recent explosion targeting U.S. soldiers, 41were killed, or which 37 were children, and 139 people wounded, again mostly children. One boy lay on a stretcher swathed in bandages, his severed leg on the table beside him. Others lay naked as the force of the explosion had blown their clothes off, while shrapnel severely wounded their little bodies. Imagine being one of these children. Imagine the pain, the fear, the endless nightmares……The horror of it all is too great to bear and we must bring it all to the only ONE who can heal their broken hearts. Please pray for these children and those who are suffering through all this. ADOPTIONS Somebody may be interested in adopting the twins. But there is still nobody for Nikita, the precious 13-year-old boy whose heart is broken, still have no family while all his friends have been adopted. He is a big boy and thinks he’d be a good son. Please pray for a family or one parent to rise to the occasion for him. He just needs one ordinary, Christian person, or a couple to adopt him and love him. That’s all he needs. Continue praying for families to respond to the call of God to adopt. Adoption is a calling that expresses the heart of God maybe more than any other. Please pray for God to touch hearts, call people, for them to respond, and for Him to abundantly supply all that is needed to make those adoptions happen. Pray for the children needing to be adopted---of which there are literally millions. ORPHANS FIRST MECHANICS & DETAILS Well, some good news……….. On Saturday I finally got hold of my friend who prints up the O.F. fliers and brochures. They were waiting their fourth hurricane. Wow. Anyway, within days, the fliers were printed and are already being sent to those willing to put them out in their churches. This is totally God’s work. Thank Him. Now I’m still waiting for a professional graphist for the main brochure. I’m waiting on 2 different sources so let’s see what happens. ORPHANS FIRST CHRISTMAS PROJECT Now with fliers available advertising the O.F. Christmas Project, I just need as many churches as possible to put these out for people to take. If you know of any churches who might want fliers, e-mail me the address and quantity. The project works like this: Orphans First brings gifts to thousands of poor children throughout the world in many countries ranging from Africa, India, Mexico and many parts of Europe. Through donations we send money to the churches we work with, who then buy gifts in the countries we work with (saving shipping costs and unfairness as kids might compare gifts that are not more or less the same). The churches provide receipts and justification for the monies spent, and provide loving Christians to bring the gifts to the destitute, the orphans and needy children in streets, state orphanages or our own orphanages. These children clearly hear the Gospel message, and see first-hand God’s love toward them. We need sponsors, and donations for this. Would your church be available to participate and make fliers available in the church? HAITI After much prayer and research, Orphans First is adopting an orphanage in Haiti with 42 children. These children live precariously and only eat once a day. We need sponsors for them, and for this whole work. Already God has given a way to provide beds for the children, although we still need a way to get the beds to them. This country has been badly hit by storms and hurricanes and is a highly demonic country, having been dedicated to Satan. Pray for our new orphanage under Claudine and Edrins. We are also co-laboring with another work in Haiti, For His Glory Adoption Outreach. We hope to help provide some financial support for them also. Pray for that, and for them. Recently, they were trying to save a sick baby in hospital. After 4 days, just as it looked like she would be getting better, the mother poisoned the baby. The mother is now accusing the American missionaries of killing her. Pray for this work, and for our future collaboration with them. We plan to work with them to bring Christmas gifts to all these different children. UGANDA I am often solicited for help by Ugandans but without actually having a personal contact to check people out (there are so many crooks using the word orphan to get funding), it is impossible to help them. Still, my heart aches as different letters pour in. One boy, Eric, is requesting $ 420 to take a aviation course in piloting for 6 weeks, after which he’d be independent and able to work for himself. He is an orphan and seems so desperate. My heart goes out to him as he pleads for help. He has a pastor (one I don’t know personally so still cannot authenticate his request). He claims to love God. Please pray God would do any of these: * provide for Eric independently of me and O.F. * show me if this request is genuine and fits in our policy, * allows me to find someone in Kampala who could really vouch for this boy, * open other doors for Eric if indeed this is not the right one for him. FRANCE & personal Thanks for your prayers. My husband is back and saw many souls come to Christ at the Christian Surfer’s conference with George Verwer. He also had a great time with our churches there. Continue praying for the sale of the property, for the tremendous needs among the teens, and for God to hold up a standard of Truth dispelling hurt, doubts, lies in His time so that people could truly glorify Him, and be free in Him. The sale of the property is still a major request in prayer. Pray also for our beloved son as he begins to catch a fire in his heart for God, but still struggles to get down to schoolwork.
