Orphans First Prayer Requests - May 15th, 2004

COUNTDOWN
    In just 2 weeks, the Worldwide Day of Prayer for Children at Risk 
(details on Viva website www.viva.org).  Pray churches, and individuals will 
participate massively.

KAZAKHSTAN, UKRAINE, RUSSIA and surrounding countries
    Undoubtedly, thanks to your prayers, money is coming in for the projects 
to reach street children, and those leaving state orphanages and going out 
into the streets.  However, the problem in these countries is massive and we're 
not making a dent. Pray for governments to change in these countries, and for 
God to raise up Christian organizations to do something far more substantial 
and lasting for the children.  This Spring, thousands of 17 & 18 year-old 
orphans leave their orphanages without jobs, money, homes (or perhaps, if they are 
lucky, sharing a squalid room with several other people).  It is the 
responsibility of the director of each orphanage to provide for these children, and the 
state has a system (providing the squalid quarters) but it barely functions.  
Kids who go to the state asking for help mostly get shoved off like dirty 
dogs, adding humiliation, intimidation to their state of destitution.  Many 
eventually turn to prostitution of other equally destructive ways of finding food.
    Pray for these children.  Pray for God to show US what we can do, and 
that He multiplies our efforts.

INDIA & THAILAND
    Pray for God to give us wisdom as our orphanage in Guntur requires 
expansion.  Pray especially for the children, and that some of our missions-minded 
O.F. friends would be able to visit India again this year.
    Pray for an orphanage in Burma soliciting our help that we've been unable 
to visit.  We are seeking to help children who eat off a dump heap in 
Thailand.  Pray for this & the millions of orphans in Asia.

AFRICA
    Continue praying for our orphans in Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and the 
work we do with street children in Ivory Coast.  Pray for God to lead us in 
helping the many needy countries in Africa more (I think often of S. Africa).  
Pray also for those needing help in Uganda and who we've been unable to visit.

USA, & ADOPTIONS
    Pray for God to work out all details for the orphanage project in 
St.Pete, FL.  Pray He'd also show us how we can reach more needy children here in 
America.  ***There is an 11-year-old boy in hospital in Washington state, and 
no-one wants him (I don't know details).  This kind of story breaks my heart.  
PRAY FOR MORE CHRISTIAN FAMILIES TO FOSTER & ADOPT CHILDREN, and for more 
Christian children's homes.
    While in Washington, I met a couple working on adopting two Russian 
children.  Pray for them --- that God would make that adoption happen fast.  Pray 
also for Steve & Liz trying to adopt an Indian girl.  Pray for the children 
coming from Russia & other countries for the summer --- that families would 
receive them, and also pursue their adoption (contact Joyce Schaller for more info: 
 tmpstuos@...)

UPCOMING TRIPS & PERSONAL NEEDS
    God seems to be opening many opportunities for traveling and making 
contacts this summer---some of which were totally unexpected, some of which include 
traveling with my husband, and ALL of which require finances, and a provision 
for my 16-year-old son so that I know he's "happy" and in the right place 
(sound familiar?).  By God's grace, the first trip will include our son, as we 
hope to attend our daughter's GRADUATION ceremony in Baltimore at the end of 
May.  Pray for housing for the time we'll be there at our home church.  
    In June, I have the opportunity to attend the Write to Publish conference 
again in Illinois.  Pray for needed traveling expenses, and for details to 
come together for this.  
    Finally, my husband and I are needed in Europe this 
summer----particularly for our church in France (of which we are founders).  Pray for all the 
details needed for this trip.  And pray for the many transitions our precious, 
beloved church has been through over the past few months----that God would bless 
His work, and be glorified.  Pray for the SALE of our Bible College property 
and a complete relocation of our work to Montpellier (including Day School and 
main church).  Pray for the establishment of a High School.  Pray for Summer 
Bible School there to be a success.
