Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, Greetings from England! I would very much appreciate your prayers for my mother-in-law who at 94, following gangrene in one leg, is now faced with a choice of amputation or gradual death over a few months perhaps if she does not have it. She really feels that she has had enough of life now and would like to die. Her name is Alice Baechtold and she lives in an old peoples home in Switzerland. My wife Liselotte is going out to her tomorrow and could do with your prayers as well in comforting Alice and helping her to make the right decision. Please pray for me as I minister to them both in different ways. We feel that miracles apart, it would be unkind for us to want to hold her back now in this life and continue to suffer as much as she now does or is likely to one way or another. Please pray that her remaining time with us will be reasonably if not completely painless and also that they will be happy. Give thanks to the Lord for her life and all the love she has shown, plus her tremendous courage in the face of falls in recent years and hip replacements. Also that the situation has come to a head just a day before Liselotte was going in any case and our son Ian-Paul and I are booked to follow next week. Thank you all for your love and your help..........ALAN Give thanks to the Lord forever and ever, call unto him for help and salvation, give praise halleluia, give praise hallelu, give praise halleluia, give praise hallelu. (Words of a "Fisherfolk" song which comes to mind at this most difficult time for us all as a family).
