Portland is hosting the Region VI (Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, Montana,
Washington, Wyoming) Conference this coming August.

Press release #1 announcing the conference location and dates has gone out
to the following places.

Oregon Episcopal Church News (Portland)
The Alaska Epiphany (Epis)
The Episcopal Voice (Olympia)
UMC Oregon/Idaho
Christian News Northwest
Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon

My list of contacts is actually huge, but most of the publications will
want a lot more information than "date and place are set." When we have
decided on speakers and programs, I will send more releases out -- to
college newspapers, radio stations, secular press, Christian magazines
(maybe) and the other dioceses, conferences, and synods that fall within
the Region VI boundaries.

It is taking a LONG time to find out what regions sponsor what
publications. If anyone has done any PR work and has contacts for
diocesan/conference/synod publications in those six states, boy, I would be
grateful. Oh, yeah. When I finally have that contact list compiled, I'll be
putting it up on the Portland Area OSL Web Site (which is now in the
planning stages).

FLYERS

The hospital chaplains I have spoken with sound very, very interested in
receiving flyers about the conference (not news releases). Huzzah! They
also have never heard of OSL. Boo! I still have the double-sided flyer that
gives the history of OSL, the goals, and the rule of life, plus
Portland-area chapter information. We might consider including that flyer
with the registration info when we send it out to hospital chaplains'
offices. That would educate them about OSL in addition to the conference.

Now ya'll know why I haven't had much to say this week. Been busy!
